Join the Fight for Stormwater Equity
Unite for fairness in Vermont's 3-acre stormwater rule.
Together, we can make a change.
If you are an unfortunate resident of a 3-acre site, join us to help bring attention to the inequity and unfairness to those that are affeted by this rule. Together we can work to encourage changes to General Permit 3-9050.
Our group wants to challenge the inequities of the current stormwater regulations. Your voice matters in our pursuit of a more equitable and effective approach to managing stormwater in Vermont. We have power in numbers to have our voices heard.
Vermont 3-Acre Stormwater Rule
Why only 5% of Vermont Homeowners?
According to the ANR, this rule affects about 5% of Vermont homeowners. The State of Vermont is responsible to clean up Lake Champlain and Lake Memphremagog, yet they are asking only 5% of us to pay for it.
“As it stands, the 3 acre sites are looking at significant costs and the projects of less than 3 acres are not,” said Monk. “So there’s a fairness question: does it make sense to have this relatively limited subset of property owners incur these costs where most landowners would not incur any costs?… What’s the solution? It’s kind of infeasible to make everybody get a permit.” - VT Digger "Ambitious new stormwater permit prompts cost concerns", by Elizabeth Gribkoff November 8, 2019
"There's a fairness question"
Even the ANR admits this is unfair...
We are a group of affected homeowners wanting to work together with other affected homeowners to bring attention to this issue with the Vermont legislature.
Who we are
Our goals
We all agree that clean water and our environment is a priority and important to most Vermonters, but to put the burden of this on such a small percent of us (roughly 5%) is unfair.
